As far as fit, the size 10 Livingston boots (usual size) were fine. Even though I was told by customer service to go a half size down, I did not.
The issue is the overall quality. With this being my first pair of Taft’s, I’m not overly impressed with the quality. There is no weight to the boots and the material used in the shaft is thin, which causes the material to buckle when laced and pulled tight. They could use more support and structure there.
Additionally, these boots, fresh out of the box, had scratches on the leather. Also, on the side of the shaft there seems to be a noticeable repair patch to the grey material that I didn’t notice until after I wore them. In my opinion, for what was received, these are way overpriced. And I’m a guy that does not flinch at paying $900+ for shoes in my collection.
In the hopes for a better experience, there is a custom pair of boots that I may purchase only because I cannot find anything like that outside of Taft. After those, it will be highly unlikely for me to ever purchase another pair from Taft.
