I love these shoes, they have such a unique look. They pair well with navy or dark grey chinos. You’ll get compliments left and right.
These shoes are beautiful. It was a wow right out of the box. My husband never says wow to anything, but these shoes made an impression in him. I got a size 8 and it fits him perfectly. He is usually an 8.5 in order brands but i bought an 8 based on recommendations. And oh, the shoes are so well made. I expect them to last a very long time. Compliments everywhere we go..
I ended up keeping these. The shoes look good but I’m not in love with them. I own all 3 colors of Taft’s woven Saints which I prefer over these because they simply feel better on my feet and have better overall aesthetics. It’s not the boot’s fault so I’ll still give them a 5/5 rating.
THE JUDE BOOT IS WOVEN is one of my all time favorite. The fit was perfect, everybody is asking me where I bought the boot and its definitely a well made boot. A must buy if you're already thinking about it. I am glad I put my name on the waitlist. It was worth it.
My first experience with Taft was a few years ago while I was visiting my younger sister in New York City and we both caught a Rome Boot in Brown out of the corner of our eyes. Stunning, we both agreed. I need a pair I snickered, and two weeks later when I got back home they were waiting for me at my front door. Got to love my little sister. The leather was soft, the construction was honestly pretty damn impressive (I wear Ferragamo, Prada, John Varvatos, Cowboy boots, the usual ;). I can not tell you how many compliments I received on these boots, literally every time I put them on someone said something to me and not just one “type” of person either. The guys at the gas station liked them, my girlfriend liked them, my banker liked them, my buddies liked them, they just ARE a damn good looking pair of boots. (I could not write a review for Rome Brown boots under the Rome Boots section, as I bought them as a guest I guess, it wouldn’t let me!). Then it happened. The sole started leaking water, then about a week later the little pieces of rubber in the sole started falling apart. They were done. I figured it was an early boot from Taft given the fact they were a newer company and reasonably priced, so I bit the bullet and ordered another pair, through them on and kept the compliments coming. However! 3 months into this second pair they were useless again. To have the sole’s redone it takes a special “Blake Construction” machine which not all cobblers own and if they do I was getting $200.00 quotes for a pair of boots (not both pairs, $200.00 each!). Now, I’ve gone on to buy over a dozen more Taft shoes, not because I wasn’t upset with the customer service, I was, but because they just do so many damn things well. If they could get a little better on customer service, (Like work with the guy that just bought $550.00 worth of the same boot which is pretty much useless now and is still trying to give you another chance!), At least one of the two pairs of boots I had purchased should have been returned and fixed, or replaced. Period. Normal wear and tear in Alabama isn’t that bad and shouldn’t ruin a boot in 3 months. Particularly not two pairs back to back (see pics). Taft has gotten much better with their other boots/shoes though and I will reluctantly continue to order from them if I can’t find anything I like. I may go back to two pairs of Ferragamo’s rather than four pairs of Tafts. I now have 12 pairs of Taft shoes/boots not including my two ruined pairs of Rome Brown boots. If customer service reaches out and attempts to make this right in anyway possible I will probably go ahead and order The Hiro in Midnight, Monaco in Black and a plaid boot in honey, if someone would get back to me! If they fixed the sole on the Rome boot in Brown, I’d order my 3rd pair today, I just can’t waste anymore money though!
